Choosing a guitar for a beginner.

First thing, ask yourself why you want to play guitar?

Who are your favorite guitarists?
What is your favorite kind of music?
What do you day-dream about regarding playing the guitar?

Answer these first, and I'll begin your guitar search for you.

Hey Jesse!

I have always wanted to learn a variety of instruments. I play the violin, but learning guitar and drums has really been more my desire. I simply like the free-flowing sound of an acoustic guitar.

As far as guitarists, I love the sounds of Indigo girls as they strum their guitars. I'm sure there are more that I'm not thinking of at the moment! LOL

I actually like a variety of styles of music but prefer country, folk, and rock n roll.

I don't know that I daydream about playing the guitar. My thoughts are not to play in a band or concerts. Merely to play at family or friend gatherings and for myself. To me, music is intimate and personal.

oh, here we go... Duane Allman, BB King, Stevie Ray Vaughn (LOVE him!), Jimmy Page, Richard Thompson, Buddy Guy... is that enough for guitarists I like?

I wish I could edit my posts!! LOL Here's a few more that I think are closer to the style I'm looking to learn... Love how John Mayer plays, and the acoustics in Blues Traveler, Hootie and the Blowfish, and David Matthews Band.
